CAR140 History

CAR40, a 1963 Ford Fairlane Compact was the entered in the 1993 Newcastle Variety Bash, the 2nd year of the event. This was entered by the then directors of the Kloster Motor Group. The car was orignaly a daily driver for a local Hamilton resturant owner that was bought by the dealership for the Variety Bash.

In 1994, the car was entered as CAR140 in the NSW Variety Bash and Craig Welsh was one of the original "bashers". CAR140 then completed the next 2 years in the Sydney Bash before Craig purchased the Fairlane from Klosters and restored it. After the restoration in 1997, Craig bashed the Fairlane until 2002 when it was sold.

After a few years away from bashing, Craig Welsh purchased CAR035, an iconic EH '64 Holden and bashed this until 2014 with his mate Dean Rothapfel.

Wanting a change (and more comfortable ride) Craig has now purchased a 1979 Ford LTD, of which will be the new CAR140 to be entered in the NSW Variety Bash.
